If it's Swedish and Folksy...it's too fun!
Valkommen!
My ancestry is Irish/Swedish and my husband's is Irish/Norwegian, so we hearken to some Scandinavian sentiments here I never realized how much I swooned over anything Swedish (or Scandinavian in general) until I discovered A Home by Carl Larsson. Now I'm flipped-out, head-over-heels gone on Swedish and Folksy!
I was drawn to Maine, too, for some unknown reason, but I'm now convinced it's because it fits with my this-side-of-the-Atlantic version of Sweden! Imagine how delighted I was to find that there are actually quite a few Scandinavians here in Maine...with wonderful shops and antiques to boot!
But I'm also not totally into the plain, monotone French-inspired Swedish. I love the colorful more peasant-style Swedish of the whimsical persuasion and this covers more than purely Scandinavian. I love the rustic-ruffley cottage decor that's fun and easy and bright! This is my definition of 'folksy' and I find all sorts of treasures that fall into this category.
So what about INSIDE the cottage...?
Well, let's take a look!
It doesn't have to be dark and woodsy only--to be a cottage. It can be sweet, light, and airy, too, of course. So where's the balance--that's what I wanna know! I've just got so many ideas runnin' through my poor head! How will I ever make a decision?
As you can see...there's no help for me!
There IS no help for me! I will never, ever be able to make my mind! And the higher my pile of magazines grows, the more lost and confused I'll become! But, of course, I'll be enjoying every miserable minute of it. I could spend HOURS torturing myself this way!
If you'd care to be tortured along with me, you can read more of my decorating dilemmas here (with photos, of course!). For my creative hiccups you MUST read this first.
