Why relaxed and unfettered? Why not?

The precise question I began asking myself back in the disturbed haze and encumbered fog of my earliest homeschool recollections. If you have even the slightest, most minute ounce of curiosity on how I wrestled free from the tortuous tentacles of fear, frustration, and failure that threatens to envelope all naive, defenseless homeschool mothers, then skip right into the sunshine  HERE

Giving the doll house some pizazz!
It all started with my kids wanting a fire in the blank fireplace. Then I decided that the FP mantle needed some color, too. How about soft blue? Nice! Then we decided that the furniture needed  some touching up...and the walls...and how 'bout the exterior, too...of course...good-bye housework! It's gonna be a crazed creative kinda day!

Homeschool Hot Spots!

Homeschool Group Activities

A homeschool group is wonderful--as long as you find one that coincides with your general homeschool outlook. Ours is very laidback with most families interested in pursuing the more  family-centered, homestead-type lifestyle. That's why it's great for us. Those looking for more instructional, or activity, or whatever it is, can certainly find that kind of support. If you can't, though, don't sweat it.  READ MORE

The Talkies

I've noticed that most children love to talk.. and talk...and talk. And they also love to show you things. I've also observed that when my kiddos get with other kiddos they actually start teaching each other stuff! SO why not put 'em together and let 'em talk and show, and show and talk till the cows come home or their ears shrivel up? Welcome to our version of the Talkies where my kids can share all the momentous, earth-shattering things they have discovered and yours can do the same! Mine would be thrilled to hear all the nitty-gritty details! READ MORE

Children's Books & Illustrators

Books and children flock together like birds of a feather! I'm one who's captivated with wonderful children's books and vintage illustrations (like Ruth Mary Hallock, Jessie Wilcox Smith, or Maria L. Kirk). Check out our Library for some of our favorite finds  HERE

Children's Recitations

I had always heard that children could memorize very easily but never quite believed it.  Well, after reading Anne of Green Gables, our children took up reciting with a vengeance--they love it! They even ASK to do it! They ask for poems to memorize and do it on their own--blows me away! Our little homeschool group has provided some great opportunities for them to do it up--right on stage! Click on the pic to see them in action!
