The Romantic Life
About Me
Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31:31
"This rather simplistic form of romance entails a sense of beauty, grace,
and the feelings of being cherished, loved, and cared for in a very special way."
"Dette enkelt form for romantikk innebærer en følelse av skjønnhet, ynde,
og av følelsen cherished, elsket og omsorg i en svært spesiell måte."
The Romantic Mom
Hi! I'm Debbie Gallagher...
Welcome to my version of the Romantic Life! I thank you so much for dropping in for a visit!
I invite you to come along and chat ...share your ideas and experiences...with me and my family as we strive to capture the essence of creativity and knowledge through discovering and cherishing the simple pleasures in life...with our children....as a family....with the world as our classroom...and our Almighty Creator as our instructor. It's not always easy...and not exactly considered 'normal' by society's standards...but it has been very fulfilling and filled with lots of adventure. Since we've embarked on this new lifestyle in Maine four years ago, we have grown in faith and some hard lessons learned...and hopefully a little wisdom, too!
My husband, Andrew, and I have four wonderful children and have been married for over 10 years. My dear hubby is a watchmaker as well as being quite adept at wearing many useful hats as the need arises. We moved to Maine from the suburbs of the Dallas metroplex searching for a radical lifestyle change...which is what we got! We have 40 acres and are in the very, very, really (did I say very?) slow process of building our own log home. We have 3 bunnies and a pony named Babycakes. I could go on and on, but you can learn more about our adventures as a family starting over in Maine under the different topics. I'll eventually write something to get it more consolidated, but that's a future project!
My theme of The Romantic Mom encourages living with our hearts and enjoying the simplicity of a more self-sufficient, less plugged-in lifestyle...just taking things day by day, moment by moment. I'm intrigued with and inspired by the thrift, creativity, resourcefulness, and strength of the pioneering families who settled and farmed the land while raising lots of children and lots of animals. We long to re-capture those vanishing arts and traits to pass down to our children...the next generation. Many of these things we're having to learn ourselves...right along with our kiddos! I focus on the family and marriage, homeschooling, homesteading, creativity, and living out the Christian walk with steadfastness, perseverance, and HOPE. I started a book on this topic, but that won't be out for awhile, so why not start where I can now! These various endeavors can simply compliment one another and hopefully offer some inspiration and encouragement along the way....
I was one of those lost sheep out there who got started rather late in life. I had our twins first when I was in my mid-thirties and had our youngest, Asheley, at 41. Although I had an emergency c-section at the hospital with the twins, I had our other two girls at home with a midwife...a truly wonderful...albeit painful...experience. I even had our youngest in the hot tub...which was awesome...and so peaceful! So let me do some braggin' on God, my most awesome Father in heaven and His precious Son, Jesus Christ, who did it ALL for this train-wreck on legs that should never have been entrusted with a brain...much less all the other incredible things He's blessed me with. I have been brought through so many unique...and sometimes very challenging...experiences and look forward to encouraging other mothers and families to take the less trodden path in life. Although I do have some convictions in these areas, I'm not a preachy-type, so if anyone's interested in my journey back to Jesus in my later years, please check Daily Bread.
As for entering the high-tech world, I still need some radical help. My wish list includes:
1. PDF software
2. A digital camera upgrade (I use the basic $130 model we bought at Wal-Mart last year)
3. Video software (so I can share the before and after of our beach house in FL!)
I do have Photoshop 6.0 which is a blast, but I just got brave enough to open it up a few months ago...my first encounter sent me into convulsions and I never touched it again for over a year! I'm slowly working my way into the thrills of Photoshop and can see how easy it is to quickly become a Photoshop junkie! Obviously, if I can do this, ANYBODY can.
Please feel free to share with me. Period. I should say, you MUST share with me. Is it OK to beg on these web sites? Good. Please, please, please write to me and let me know what you're thinkin', what you're doin', how, why, and when you're doin' what you're doin'. I'd really love to hear from ya! Contact Me
Blessings! Debbie
