Country Thrills 10/09/2009

Oh Happy, happy Fall day! It's this kinda thing that gives me thrills and chills! The children just brought in our very first egg laid by our chickens...that we raised from little bitty chicks! This is EGGs-citing...to say the least! And isn't it the loveliest hint of soft blue?

My day's even more happy now that I just received this darling book on my doorstep, too! I'm so in the mood for much needed inspiration and ideas for more of the COMFORTable country life. It's the perfect topping for this chilly overcast nestle-under-the-afghan kind of afternoon. Now please forgive me as I slip away to cuddle up with my mint tea and fuzzy slippers! Fall blessings abound! : D

Oh you will have to share that book sometime soon! And that is definitely Eggciting! Your very first fresh chicken egg...do the kiddo's all get to split it for breakfast?

Congratulations on your first egg! I'm almost jealous! :) Fall looks so fun and storybookish up there, especially with your girls dressed so cute - your pics are just beautiful! Picking apples and flowers never looked so romantic and fun too. Yes, you've inspired me.

Thanks so much, ya'll! It's so fun to share! I'm laughing this morning...going to care for the chickens has now taken on a whole new excitement...wondering if there's a little something that's been 'dropped' since yesterday! lol! And I wish you could see how the girls are dressed for 'chicken care' this morning...petticoats, over-skirts, aprons...even white gloves tucked into a pocket! How could I make this stuff up??? It's a riot! And don't worry...more pix coming up...including this wonderful book! I'm still drooling! : D

I'm coming in last in the comments---but wanted to express MY AMAZEMENT, too, that you already have an egg from your chicks!! It took the Mishorks, across the lane, much longer to start, it seems to me. And that looks like a nicely-sized egg. Their early ones were smallish. And how did that enticing magazine come to be on your doorstep?? Did the Good Fairy bring it for your "snuggle-in" time? I'm anxious to see what's inside. & is it something you might want a gift subscription to?

Congratulations on your fist egg. Oh, how I long to raise chickens and eat their nutritious free-range eggs. Those colorful autumn leaves provide the perfect backdrop for this precious blue detailed egg. I'll bet the yolk was a deep golden yellow.
