Yarbrough's New Venture 07/23/2009
In all their dreaming and scheming, they put a business plan together, and voila! The Phoenix Cafe is now not only a dream but a reality! The loan was approved for a kitchen/catering trailer that they now have set up semi-permanently on the front part of the Palmyra Golf Course off of Hwy 2 (west of Newport headed toward Skowhegan...if you're in this area). Believe it or not, this very fancy yet functional trailer was built by the Amish out in Ohio. Mark and his dad trekked out there the latter part of June to pick it up. I need to take some photos of the interior as well...it's really amazing...so much can be fitted so nicely into such a compact space. We're talking huge stainless steel fridge, large commercial work sink, stove, fryers,...and still plenty of ample counter space.... They serve a Southwest style menu with awesome burritos and large crispy shell tacos with all the fixings! They also have vegetarian burritos for those who prefer a lighter fare. For meat lovers, you have to try the burgers...both the large and small are made from Wolfe's Neck all natural meat and are absolutely mouth-watering delicious! Their homemade potato chips are to die for and a choice of those or corn chips and salsa accompany any of the meals. You gotta try 'em...believe me!! Another specialty item they offer is Shipyard's Capt'n Eli's Blueberry Pop that's a huge hit...very refreshing! They also carry an organic Sasparilla soda and Shipyard's specialty Root Beer that are very tasty...especially with those homemade potato chips! For the kiddos there are hot dogs and a variety of ice cream treats to choose from. So come on by and check out their Phoenix Cafe and begin spreading the word! They've already been asked to cater at St. Albans Day this past weekend...which had a really nice turn out despite all the rain. And cleared off enough to enjoy the fireworks that evening. The Yarbrough's are already planning to cater some local events and will be setting up for future fairs, festivals, and rallies this summer and fall. Snowmobile clubs will be scheduled for winter time events (207-313-4503). We wish you all the best, Mark and Jen! Keep on cookin'!! : D Commentsmom Tue, 28 Jul 2009 18:55:33 Hooray for the Yarboroughs! What an imaginative & exciting venture! But innovative---& I'll bet little competition. Am anxious to see the interior. Is intriguing to think of being able to service winter events as well as summer ones. And the fare sounds delicious, but how on earth do you estimate how much prep stuff you will need on hand. Running out would NOT be good, I assume! Experience will be that teacher, I guess.
