Post Farm Picnic 10/10/2008
It was fabulous Fall weather, foliage, and farm fun all bundled into a comfy cozy afternoon basking before the bonfire and scarfing down all the scrumptious homemade victuals! Mary Jane couldn't have done it up any better, I'm tellin' ya here and now! We heard a "beeeeh, beeeeh" coming from up the road. Iris, the young goat, decided to follow Harlow and the horses up so she could come to the party, too! Way more action down here than in that pen at home! And way more attention than a little goat could hope for! Then for the real, super-thrill of the afternoon...that not even Iris was gonna miss...
Hi Post cows! You sure make good milk!! And then we're back for some bubble blowin'! And bubble chasing! And this is why we love the Post Farm Picnic!! CommentsSat, 11 Oct 2008 18:20:32 Fall fun.... You're making me long to be in Maine! Lynn Sat, 11 Oct 2008 19:40:43 What fun! This picnic looks like it could be in a magazine. I especially like the wood cookstove they had outside. Were they using the stove to heat things on or was it just for looks? Sun, 12 Oct 2008 05:40:06 Yes they were using it...and I should've mentioned that! The top of the stove was cast iron with cast iron 'burners'...like the top of the wood-burning stoves. And this one was wood-burning, too! In the kettle on top of the stove was a wonderfully delicious beef stew. And I huddled next to that stove since it was much warmer than the bonfire to me...with less smoke! Mom Mon, 13 Oct 2008 19:44:28 MY favorite of the Post picnic--the blue porcelain coffee pot with the GORGEOUS FALL FOILAGE in it----naturally! Altho the one wirh you & Ashley is a close 2nd. And Cady/Hayes picnics never had beef stew simmering on a wood cook stove! By the way, I didn't realize how chilly that day was till we saw everyone bundled up. Leave a Reply |
