A road trip to Portland and a bright sunny day to smile on us the whole way!

Our son occupied himself the entire trip learning to read the road map.  He's recently been complaining of car sickness...but not today! Homeschool is cool! Ain't it!

Fall scenes in Lewiston...

Peeking at a porch with a pumpkin....

Picnic in the parking lot...

Our favorite Simply Scandinavian stop...relocated from the Old Port (next to Folly 101) to Stevens Ave. It's such a sweet little cozy neighborhood, too! If you haven't popped in to see Mary and her delightful shop, you're definitely missing out on all sorts of tasty treats! And she makes you feel like you're part of the family...even if you're not of Scandinavian connections!

Climbing on the rocks in the common courtyard in Old Port....next to the ever-frequented Starbucks....

and another fun furniture shop over there...

The final stop was L.L. Bean...very quiet and relaxing than compared to summer's rush. Last night, the staff far out-numbered the patrons.  I perused cabin and fireplace books while the children looked at nature books...and hubby found a book on living in treehouses.  Other than the multitudinous stair climb...I could actually be convinced! We know of a great pine tree...

I love book store trips, but ours will be postponed until Christina is old enough to stay put long enough for us to browse....

Now, you know you aren't allowed to start building a tree house until you finish the log cabin, right? : P

Mom (Whiny voice) "I wanna go to Portland, too." I just know Deb's taking all that leaf color to make me eat my heart out. I can almost hear her saying with a chuckle "Mom's gonna hate me for this." It's great to see you have a navigator-in-training. Andrew, mark the way to Texas so you can guide Mom and Dad HERE!! How peaceful all the children look during that drive. Guess they have no grandparents getting them all jazzed up. Certainly makes for a peaceful drive--even with 4 young'uns in back. We recognize the little park. MY!! What huge leaves (brilliant red, of course!) . Small faces hidden by fall color! Wish we were there----Mom

Hi there! Just enjoyed browsing through your recent blogs! I just love all of your pictures and the places you've visited are just gorgeous! It looks like you guys have lots of fun together! We've been enjoying fresh picked apples too and are trying to get as many as we can before the season is entirely over. Maybe I'll get some in the freezer if I get really ambitious! I just love the leaves up there in Maine - so vibrant! The leaves have just turned here and are lovely too. I've got to get some pictures of them this week! Hope you all have a wonderful day!
